A’s Giant Sandwich in Sarasota

We found this place on a Sunday. The subs were good. It had an old fashion vibe. Like a 50's malt shop type. We chatted with the staff too. A plus.

I don't understand the bad reviews. The bread is always fresh and decent amount of meat. Staff is always friendly. As far as the price. Everyone needs to make money. Definitely not overpriced. Some people just want to get everything for a dollar, those days are gone.

Sad experience. This place WAS the best sandwich place in Sarasota. New Owners just dont care about quality or Customer concerns.

I can't believe it's been almost 40 years!.. Fantastic Subs and Soups, fantastic service. The bread is baked fresh every morning.

A Sarasota classic! When you're in the mood for a great sandwich, A's has been and still is the go-to place. Simply delicious ingredients put together with care for every palate. Don't abuse your taste buds with fast food; for a couple of minutes more get a personalized fresh lunch on in-house bread baked daily. Treat yourself to wonderful!

My mom and I have been coming here since I was very young. The original owners recently sold the business, but the bread and sandwhiches are exactly the same. The thing that makes their subs so good is the bread. It's soft, fluffy and melts in your mouth. The Taco sub, club, and chicken salad are my favorites. The employees are amazing as well, always happy to see you and very nice. If you're nearby, stop in, it's very close to siesta right before the bridge. One of my favorite local eateries in town.

This is the best place to get a sandwich that feels like your grandmother made it fresh for you in her kitchen. If you are looking for a generic sandwich go to subway if you want a homemade delicious sub this is your place!! Great staff. very clean

I believe these are the Best Hoagies. I get the Italian and nothing else, but my family enjoy other sandwiches. The Bread in homemade every day! Yum.

A great sub on the way to the beach! Delicious as always. The sandwiches and ingredients, to me, havent changed in 20 years and the bread is still as great. The new owners kept it all the same except now they take credit cards!

Awful...Home made bread is like chewing gum just like common branded breads purchased in any grocery store.Nothing special.Subs much more generous in grocery store deli.The day I was in there a refrigerator was giving off an eardrum shattering shrill noise.My ears rang for a week afterwards.Friendly help but oblivious to shrieking frig noise.They appear to be used to it and don’t care.Retro deli decor in need of refreshing.AWARDED 1 Yum on a scale of three.

I absolutely love this place. Family owned and very respectful and make you feel welcome. The quality of the food was great and will drive past 10 sub shops to get to A's.

Had an Italian yesterday for $7.50 or so. Honest to God, I had to throw it out. The meat was room temp and slimy with no flavor. I've been here 38 years and I try to buy local. I was next door in their plaza so I thought I'd try it. I agree with one of the other reviews... How can these ratings be good? The owner's were very nice, but that's it. I would actually not review if for not the word "Giant" Come on.

This place is the bomb.. I love a good sandwich.. All ingredients were fresh, staff was super friendly.. Make sure you get the sub bread.. It definitely makes the sandwich.

Great hidden gem right on 41! Almost an old school vibe for a sandwich shop. Simply made right in front of you with very kind and helpful staff. Do yourself a favor and add a bowl of chili with your sandwich.

A's has been a staple in Sarasota for as long as I can remember. I've been eating there since 1984. Although ownership has changed the quality of food has remained excellent! The bread is the star, and it's delicious!

Best subs in town, been coming here since I was a kid. New owners now, but still the same great quality that makes them a local favorite. When I come home to visit family I always stop by A’s!

Great shop! Owner is friendly and fun. Staff all upbeat! Best Italian sub ever and the roll is the best. We get subs with their special sauce on the side and take to Siesta Key beach. Makes for a great day.

I dream about A's bread. Seriously, it melts in your mouth and I haven't found anything that even comes close. This is one of my favorite local businesses in Sarasota, you can clearly see the people that work here really love what they do. They're always friendly and upbeat, even when they have a huge line of people. Their taco sub, chicken salad and club are the BEST. I recently became addicted to the taco sub and haven't been getting anything else.

All these years I've never been disappointed! Great local Family owed bussiness.. The staff is always so nice. Food is always great. My kids beg every weekend to go to A's when asked what they want for lunch.. Just one sad thing is they're closed on Sunday and were forced to eat our homemade sandwiches.
